Randy Travis leaves hospital for physical-therapy facility
Randy Travis is one step closer to recovery, having been discharged from a hospital in Plano, Texas, and relocated to an inpatient physical-therapy facility in the wake of his recent health woes.
The news — which is in line with what Travis’ doctors predicted in mid-July — came Wednesday via the country star’s rep.
The 54-year-old singer, who was hospitalized for heart problems before suffering a stroke that required surgery to relieve pressure on his brain, had been getting “aggressive physical therapy” since mid-July, his doctors said, at the Heart Hospital Baylor Plano, where he’d been since July 8. He was first admitted to an ER in McKinney, Texas, on July 7.

His doctors said it will probably take months for Travis to recover from the stroke, which was a complication of measures taken to deal with what was determined to be congestive heart failure.
He’d reportedly been in fine health until three weeks before entering the ER; during that time he’d been fighting off a viral upper-respiratory infection.
“Thanks to all the fans and friends for your continued prayers and support as Randy continues on the road to recovery,” Travis’ fiancée, Mary Davis, said in a statement issued Wednesday.
