Grammy-winning songwriter David Hodges looks to beat it out of Studio City

Songwriter, producer and musician David Hodges, who won a pair of Grammy Awards as a member of the alt-rock band Evanescence, has put his contemporary home in the Studio City foothills up for sale at $3.195 million.

Hodges and his wife, Kate, bought the property nearly a decade ago for $2.45 million and added a two-room recording studio and sound booth to the home. Singer-songwriter Christina Perri and musician Ben Rector are among those of note who worked and recorded in the studio.

The multi-level home, built in 1990, also has Hollywood ties that precede Hodges’ ownership: comedian Cedric Kyles, better known as Cedric the Entertainer, is a former resident.

Within the 6,494 square feet of well-proportioned space is a formal living room with vaulted ceilings, a dining room, a center-island kitchen and a family room with a wet bar.

The master suite has a fireplace and travertine-tiled bath for a total of six bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms.

Outdoors, grounds of about a third of an acre center on a lagoon-style swimming pool with a spa and waterfall feature. Lawns, patios and a play area fill out the hedged and gated setting. There’s also a three-car garage.

Leah Lail of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage holds the listing.

Hodges, 37, is relocating his family to Nashville, where he often collaborates with Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban. He has previously worked with Celine Dion, the Backstreet Boys and David Archuleta.

As a solo artist, he has released eight albums, most recently “Passengers: Sirens” in 2014. He has also performed with such groups as Trading Yesterday, the Age of Everything and Arrows to Athens.
