Monte Carlo to split into two new resorts, Park MGM and NoMad Las Vegas
The Monte Carlo Resort and Casino in Las Vegas is changing it up. The 20-year-old resort will be split into two hotels: Park MGM and NoMad Las
MGM Resorts will spend nearly half-a-billion dollars to convert the Monte Carlo into Park MGM, and the NoMad Las Vegas, a sister to the Manhattan hotel of the same name, according to a statement.
The hotel won’t close during construction and will continue to operate as the Monte Carlo until the re-branding.
With roughly 2,700 rooms, Park MGM will dwarf the 292 rooms at the NoMad. Each property will have its own lineup of amenities, including casinos and dining options.
The NoMad’s signature restaurant will be created by Chef Daniel Humm and restaurateur Will Guidara. Their Eleven Madison Park in Manhattan boasts three Michelin stars.
The Park MGM will feature a new, 5,300-seat theater. It is scheduled to launch later this year inside the still-open Monte Carlo.
MGM Resorts said in the statement the $450-million construction project will begin in late 2016 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2018.
Corporate officials added that the two new hotels are the final pieces of a multibillion-dollar puzzle designed to reenergize the west side of Las Vegas Boulevard, between the Bellagio and New York-New York.
The properties will be adjacent to The Park, a dining and retail district, and the 20,000-seat T-Mobile Arena. Both opened in April.
The Monte Carlo was modeled after the famed Place du Casino in Monaco and welcomed its first guests in June 1996.
