Aerosmith adds fall dates to Las Vegas residency. Sing with them, sing for their 50 years
Las Vegas usually is all about the new: an Eataly, bunk-bed sleepovers, and maybe even Raiders football. But the Strip will shift into total throwback mode when Aerosmith kicks off a newly beefed up residency at the Park MGM this spring.
Lead singer Steven Tyler, 70, and company will notch the band’s coming 50th year with a Deuces Are Wild tour at the Park Theater, where Lady Gaga currently holds court. The band recently almost doubled the number of Vegas shows it will pound out this year.
Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Saturday for 17 new dates between September and December. Tickets start at $75, excluding tax and fees.
(A limited number of tickets is still available for the original 18 shows in April, June and July).
Fans may thrill to a new throwback pre-show too. “When people walk in, before we play, there’ll be 45 minutes of an Aerosmith experience from [Hollywood special-effects house] Pixomondo, which does shows like ‘Game of Thrones,’ ” Tyler told Variety.
Aerosmith, on track to receive a Hollywood Walk of Fame star despite a rained-out ceremony Thursday, includes bassist Tom Hamilton, drummer Joey Kramer and guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford. The band has received four Grammys over the years and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.
Following suit, heavy metal bangers Def Leppard also announced fresh shows on the Strip, the first since 2013. The band, which debuted in 1977, will appear for a dozen performances at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood starting Aug. 14. Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Feb. 22.
Other throwback acts coming to Las Vegas, by their most popular decade, include:
►The ’70s: James Taylor & His All Star Band in April and May at the Colosseum at Caesars.
►The ’80s: Boyz II Men (looking more men than boyz) on selected dates February through June at the Mirage’s Terry Fator Theater; and Billy Idol will perform five shows at the Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort.
►The ’90s: Former pop heartthrobs Backstreet Boys, now through April, at Planet Hollywood.
