Learn how to spin, scratch, repeat at this DJ retreat in Puerto Rico

DJ lessons sound so techno-geeky. But what if you learned the moves at a kickback island retreat off Puerto Rico?

That’s what the W Retreat & Spa on Vieques Island offers guests who want to spend three days in October spinning and learning.

You’ll be schooled by pros at DJ Dispensary who’ll lead serious sessions on theory and demonstration, and introduce you to how equipment works. Guests also receive daily teaching sessions in group and one-on-one settings.

And then it’s your big moment: You perform solo what you’ve learned during a sunset spin session. And you’ll take home a recording of your original set too.

The retreat runs from Oct. 1 to 4 and costs $350 a night.

If you can tear yourself away from the spinning groove, there’s lots to do on this eco-friendly island about eight miles off the coast of the Puerto Rican mainland. The star here is Bioluminescent Bay, which glows with microscopic plankton. You can see it all during nighttime guided kayaking trips.

Snorkeling, scuba diving, horseback riding, hiking and other activities also are available during your island stay.
