Celine Dion, who just notched 1,000 Las Vegas shows, adds 24 new concerts in 2017
To thunderous applause and rousing cheers, Celine Dion took the Las Vegas stage for a 1,000th show Saturday evening — with the promise of more shows to come in 2017.
“A thousand shows,” she told packed house of more than 4,000 fans at the Colosseum. “I don’t feel that old.”
Coinciding with the 1,000th show, Dion has added 24 concerts to her 2017 calendar at Caesars. Tickets go on sale noon Friday for performances on select dates between April 4 and June 3.
The Canadian superstar began her residency in the arena in 2003. She recalled her first show that March 25, walking on to the stage with her young son, René Charles, and her husband, René Angélil, standing nearby. Angélil died of cancer earlier this year.
“Tonight, I really feel that we are reliving that kind of emotion,” she said near the conclusion of the milestone performance.
“Thank you to the — this is pretty amazing — thank you to the 4 million fans who have come to see the show since 2003,” she added. Moments later, blue and white balloons and bronze and silver confetti rained down on the audience and stage.
