A Lake Mead houseboat dream come true: Las Vegas chefs from Alizé cook everything for you

Pampered campers: Ready for glamping on water? Houseboats replace the luxury tent or camper and come with personal chefs for an upscale weekend on the water this spring in Southern Nevada.

There’ll be plenty of glamour — hence the “glamping” moniker — as Forever Resorts presents its first Scenic and Savory Houseboat Excursion on vast Lake Mead, about 30 miles from the Las Vegas Strip.

While most trips aboard houseboats require guests to manage their own cooking, this package comes with gourmet meals prepared by two respected Sin City chefs — Mark Purdy and his wife, Tammy Alana.

Both work at the Michelin-starred Alizé French restaurant atop the Palms Casino Resort.

Purdy and Alana will be unobtrusive as they travel in a separate houseboat during the April 29 to May 1 excursion.

The voyage will be a food lover’s dream come true. The experiences include:

  • Breakfasts of made-to-order omelets accompanied by freshly baked biscuits and muffins. The libations include Bloody Marys, Kona coffee with grappa and mimosas.
  • A clambake on a deserted beach with not only clams, but lobster, mussels, shrimp and more, followed by homemade desserts by Alana, a pastry chef.
  • A cooking class during which guests will learn to prepare stuffed poussin (young chicken) and veal, both of which will be served as part of that evening’s lavish dinner.

The two-night, three-day journey will take place aboard a 70-foot houseboat with features such as private staterooms, satellite TV and rooftop sundecks complete with hot tubs.

Luxury, of course, comes at a cost. The excursion is priced at $4,110 per person, based on double occupancy. A maximum of 12 guests will be accommodated on two houseboats.
