Deal: Spring break brings $69 massages, $1 bucket of beers at Kimpton hotels
What can you buy with $1 these days? The Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach will give you a pail of craft beers for a buck when you check in. It’s all part of spring deals at three Kimpton Hotels in Southern California.
The deal includes one for-sure freebie at each of the boutique hotels: a free wine hour every day. Here are some of the spring savings going on:
* The Pail of Ale offer — a pail of craft beers for $1 — is on at the Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach, where you can play table tennis or gather around the fire pit in the evenings. You can snag a room starting at $330 on Saturdays in March and April, and cash in on your pail of beer.
* The Palomar San Diego in the city’s Gaslamp Quarter offers a bit of pampering. Receive 20% off room prices, and get your choice of an hourlong massage or a facial for $69. (The deal is good until April 30.) I found the Spring Awakening offer available March 26 for $189 a night; don’t forget to book the spa service before you arrive at Nature’s Spa by Jurlique.
* Solamar San Diego in downtown takes 20% off its recently refurbished rooms and 20% off JSix Restaurant through March 30. You can get the discounts and a $170 room on March 26 for part of the Solamar Rediscovered offer.
When: These deals have different deadlines (see above) and black-out dates; offers are based on availability.
Tested: How should you evaluate these deals? It’s all about how much you care about extras. The craft beers at Shorebreak are a bargain, provided you like what they’re serving. And the $69 massage or facial at Palomar San Diego usually costs $125 to $145.
