Tiger Woods’ annual charity golf tournament leaving Thousand Oaks

Tiger Woods and his annual charity event will say goodbye to their longtime home at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks after this year.

The World Challenge will switch to the Isleworth Golf & Country Club in Windermere, Fla., where Woods used to live.

“We’ve enjoyed 15 amazing years in Southern California, which helped us launch our flagship Tiger Woods Learning Center,” he said in a statement posted on his website. “It serves as a lasting tribute to the local fans that have supported us year after year.”

The 2013 Northwestern Mutual World Challenge is scheduled for Dec. 2-8 and will feature an 18-man field including Graeme McDowell, Jason Dufner and 14 of the top 20 players in the world rankings.

Woods said that after this year’s event, he is “looking forward to this next phase of the World Challenge and what it can bring to Florida.”

Isleworth is owned by the Tavistock Group, which sponsors the Tavistock Cup, an annual 36-hole event.

“We believe this new partnership with the World Challenge will allow us to expand our presence and investment in the game,” said Andy Odenbach, vice president of sports ventures at Tavistock Group.

Woods said that since its inception the World Challenge has raised more than $25 million for his foundation, which offers scholarship programs, supports learning centers with after-school curriculum to help youth focus on career opportunities and runs summer camps.
