One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson hurt in charity soccer match [Video]
This never would have happened to any of the guys in ‘N Sync.
A charity soccer match was held in Glasgow, Scotland, over the weekend for recently retired Aston Villa midfielder Stiliyan Petrov, who has leukemia. Over 60,000 people were in attendance to watch some of Europe’s biggest stars compete, with one side featuring celebrities and assorted soccer players coached by Petrov, the other side being Celtic FC.
Early in the second half, Petrov’s Gabriel Agbonlahor knocked Louis Tomlinson, one-fifth of the boy band One Direction, to the ground while attempting to take the ball from him.
Despite the fact that it wasn’t much of a hit, Tomlinson went down like a wounded duck and rolled around on the ground for a while before getting up and limping off the field to a smattering of applause.
“It was one of those things,” Agbonlahor said afterward. “I’ll apologize to Louis when we meet up with everybody later.”
Unfortunately -- whoops, I mean fortunately -- Tomlinson’s vocal cords were uninjured, so One Direction will continue to entertain us indefinitely.
