Lakers finish Week 1 in 10th place in Western Conference

The Lakers finished the opening week of the 2013-14 NBA season with a 2-2 record, placing them 10th in the Western Conference.

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Houston Rockets sit atop the Western standings with 3-0 records.

Seven teams stand ahead of the Lakers with 2-1 records: the Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors, Oklahoma City Thunder, Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs and Clippers.

The Lakers are in front of the Sacramento Kings, Memphis Grizzlies and New Orleans Pelicans, all tied at 1-2. The Denver Nuggets (0-2) and Utah Jazz (0-3) have yet to win.

Only four teams in the Eastern Conference have better records than the Lakers. The Indiana Pacers and Philadelphia 76ers are both 3-0. The Detroit Pistons and Toronto Raptors are 2-1.

The Lakers are tied with the 14th best overall record in the NBA at 2-2 with the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic.

At 100.0 points a game, the Lakers’ scoring is at 13th out of 30. Defensively, the team is giving up 105.5 points a night, the sixth-most in the NBA.
