Todd Coffey is all better, activated by Dodgers for Rockies
Starting to think that nothing about Todd Coffey is going to be surprising this season. I mean, other than his current 36.00 ERA.
Coffey, who conveniently came up with a sore knee when the Dodgers had to activate Ted Lilly on April 14, was activated – actually, the Dodgers press release referred to it as “reinstated” – on Monday prior to their game in Denver.
The Dodgers had already sent right-hander Nathan Eovaldi down after Sunday’s game, so once again, it’s not like there was any suspense here.
The only suspense remains whether Coffey can return to form. Last year with the Nationals, he was a bit of a workhorse. He appeared in 69 games, sporting a 5-1 record, 3.62 ERA and 1.26 WHIP.
After throwing one scoreless inning in his debut for the Dodgers, he gave up a pair of runs in his next two outings without recording an out.
Coffey made two rehab appearances for Rancho Cucamonga in the Cal League, allowing one run on three hits in two innings.
