Two men shot and killed in Compton, about 1.5 miles apart
Two men died Saturday night in shootings in Compton, the sheriff’s department reported.
The first incident happened at 5:21 p.m. in the 400 block of West Caldwell Street. The victim was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The second shooting was reported at 7:38 p.m. in the 1000 block of South Nestor Avenue. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two locations are about 1.5 miles apart. It was not immediately clear if there was a connection between the two shootings.
Homicide detectives were still in the field gathering evidence late Saturday night, deputy Lisa Jansen said.
