Orange County prosecutors seek more victims in taxi cab rape case
The Orange County District Attorney is seeking additional victims who may have been assaulted by a taxi cab driver who is facing rape charges.
Samy Hakim, 54, of Anaheim has been charged with one felony count of rape of an intoxicated person and one felony count of sexual penetration by a foreign object of an intoxicated person.
Hakim was arrested July 9 by the Huntington Beach Police Department after a woman claimed she had been raped by him inside his taxi cab late last year while she was under the influence of alcohol.
The 36-year-old woman alleged that Hakim picked her up from a bar in Huntington Beach during the early morning hours of Nov. 18. He then drove to her house and assaulted her inside the vehicle. The woman reported the assault to police later that day.
Huntington Beach police investigated the case for several months and arrested Hakim.
Anyone with information may contact OCDA Supervising Investigator Mark Gutierrez at (714) 347-8794.
If convicted, Hakim faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in state prison.
