Rainy, colder weather to hit Southland this week
A cold front blowing in from Northern California is expected to bring rain and chillier weather to the Los Angeles region this week.
Kathy Hoxsie, a forecaster with the National Weather Service, said residents in Los Angeles County can expect light rain beginning Wednesday morning or afternoon. Heavier rains are expected Thursday.
Hoxsie predicted about three-quarters of an inch of rain in the San Gabriel Mountains and about half an inch for the rest of the county.
The wet will be accompanied by lower temperatures, Hoxsie said. In downtown Los Angeles, temperatures are expected to drop to the mid-50s overnight this week.
The cool-down, though, will not last long. Skies will clear and temperatures are likely to return to normal by the weekend, Hoxsie said.
