Five arrested in slaying of man found in San Juan Capistrano creek bed
Five people were arrested Friday in connection with the death of a 38-year-old man whose body was dumped in a creek bed in San Juan Capistrano, authorities said.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department announced the arrests Friday afternoon after a weeklong investigation into Alvaro Rios’ death.
The arrested were identified as: Siavish Hosseinaliarhani, 18; Ryan Huebnar, 20; Brion Hyde, 22; Ashkan Dezhangfard, 22; and Angelica Shiabata, 28. Hyde, Shiabata and Dezhangfard live in San Juan Capistrano. Hosseinaliarhani and Huebnar reside in Laguna Niguel.
They were taken into custody on suspicion of murder and conspiracy, the sheriff’s department said. They are being held on $1-million bail and scheduled to appear in court Monday.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Carrie Braun did not disclose a motive for the killing.
Rios, 38, was reported missing on July 13 from his home in Perris in Riverside County.
He was found dead about 1:10 p.m. that day in a creek bed at the end of Trabuco Creek Road. Rios had suffered traumatic injuries, with stab wounds to his body.
