Inglewood police searching for driver in fatal hit-and-run
Inglewood police on Sunday were searching for the driver of a pickup truck that fatally struck a woman moments after she placed a baby in a car safety seat, authorities said.
A red or burgundy Ford F150 pickup truck struck the woman on Oak Street about 10 p.m. Saturday, police said. The victim, who was thrown about 30 feet in the air, was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, authorities said.
The driver of the pickup then fled the scene, police said. He was described as a bald Latino man in his 30s with a mustache.
The accident occurred after family members were leaving a birthday party at a home in the neighborhood. The victim had just placed the baby in the car and was standing next to the vehicle when she was hit by the truck, police said.
