Elderly Glendale man dies after severe beating in possible burglary
An elderly man who was severely beaten in his Glendale apartment died Monday morning, authorities said.
A grandchild of the 81-year-old man called police at 5:31 a.m. to say that his “grandfather may have suffered a gunshot wound” and was bleeding, according to a news release from the Glendale Police Department.
When officers arrived at the apartment in the 1800 block of West Glenoaks Boulevard they found the elderly man had been severely beaten but there was no evidence of a shooting, authorities said.

It initially appeared as though there had been a burglary.
The man, whose identity was not immediately released, was taken to a hospital, where he died.
