Handyman arrested after allegedly taking toddler from party
A Boyle Heights handyman was arrested Sunday after he was found naked with a 3-year-old girl he had allegedly kidnapped from a nearby party.
The incident began late Saturday, when the family of the girl noticed she was missing about 11 p.m. from a family baby shower in the 3200 block of Malabar Street, KTLA-TV reported.
Neighbors told reporters the girl was playing in the front yard when she disappeared.
About three hours later, police opened up a garage across the street from the party and found a man sitting on a couch naked with the girl partially clothed, CBS Los Angeles reported. The man was known as the neighborhood’s handyman.
Police arrested the man on suspicion of kidnapping. The girl was examined at a local hospital where authorities determined she had not been sexually abused, KTLA reported.
