Man shot to death in El Monte in apparent road rage incident
A 23-year-old man was shot to death Saturday night in El Monte during what authorities believe was a road rage incident.
The victim, a passenger in a truck, began to argue with a person in another vehicle near the intersection of Cogswell Road and Klingerman Street around 7 p.m., said Deputy Crystal Hernandez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The gunman shot the victim in the upper torso when the argument escalated and left the scene in a dark-colored SUV with at least one other man in the car with him.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name is not being released because authorities are still trying to notify his relatives. No one else was injured.
Detectives have found no evidence that the incident involved gangs, but “it hasn’t been ruled out,” said L.A. County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Barraza.
