A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy was airlifted to a hospital Tuesday morning after getting into a single-car wreck, authorities said.

The collision occurred at 8:38 a.m. in the 13000 block of Meyer Road near the border of South Whittier and Santa Fe Springs said sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Gordon.

It was not immediately clear how the collision occurred.

“We don’t know if there was a pursuit or not. There was something dealing with a suspect,” Gordon said.
