Rapper Coolio resurfaces with ‘Gangsta’s Paradise,’ caprese salad and peach crumble
It’s been a minute since we’ve heard from Coolio, the rapper behind the ‘90s sing-along hit “Gangsta’s Paradise.” But the rapper is back, and not only is he rapping, but he’s also cooking up some dinner for some strangers.
While in England, Coolio crashed a party of students at the University of Central Lancashire. He cooked them dinner then rapped “Gangsta’s Paradise.”
“Met Coolio on a student night out in Preston and he said he wanted to cook for me and my house mates the following night and that’s exactly what happened,” said student Olivia Johnson-Aley on Reddit (language warning). “We decided to take a break from the cooking and have a jam session.”
According to Reddit user Lorcantc (language warning), who was also at the house, Coolio was in town to play a gig and met a couple of the housemates at a VIP after-party.
Johnson-Aley posted a video of the acoustic rendition, but what about the food? Lorcantc said Coolio prepared “Coolio’s caprese salad, chicken a la Daaaamn, and peach crumble” for the group. “We also videoed a cooking show (“Cooking with Coolio”),” wrote Lorcantc. “It was just as weird as it sounds.”
That does sound weird? And what the heck is chicken a la Daaaamn? Let’s see if the Food Network makes an offer any time soon. Cooking with Coolio does kind of have a nice ring to it.
