Platine bakery starts selling chocolate chip cookie milk shots

Dominique Ansel, the New York-based creator of the Cronut croissant-doughnut hybrid, recently launched the chocolate chip cookie milk shot, and already others are following suit. Starting today, the bakery Platine in Culver City is offering its own version.

“We saw Dominique Ansel’s and thought they were so cute and so fun,” Platine owner and pastry chef Jamie Ginsburg said. “We thought we’d pay homage, in the spirit of fun. And what is more fun than cookies? Our thing is cookies.”

Ginsburg said she uses her chocolate chip cookie dough, bakes it in shot glass molds, brushes the interiors with tempered chocolate to line them and pours in chocolate-chip-cookie-infused milk.

“We’re still playing around with it,” Ginsburg said. “It’s like any food. Each piece of food is different than the next. It’s definitely been a learning process. It will keep evolving.”

They’re available on a limited basis for $3 each, to be eaten in the store or to take away -- the cookie and milk packaged separately.

Platine is open Tuesday to Friday noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday noon to 4 p.m.
