L.A.’s food world hosts Pasadena bake sale for typhoon relief
L.A. chefs, restaurants and food bloggers are coming together for a bake sale to raise funds for Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts.
Eat My Blog 5.0 -- the latest incarnation of Eat My Blog charity bake sales -- is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Coolhaus in Pasadena. The event will serve up baked goods and more from dozens of members of the L.A. food community and beyond.
Among them are:
Cream cheese pumpkin bars from Animal and Son of a Gun, “hot dog in a waffle on a stick” from Night + Market, caramels from Le Bon Garcon, baguettes from Republique, brownies from Roy Choi, persimmon crisps from Xoia, and more, according to organizer Cathy Chaplin, who is also the voice behind Gastronomy Blog.
Also organizing are Diana Hossfeld of the blog Diana Takes a Bite, Nastassia Johnson of Coolhaus and Lien Ta, manager with Animal and Son of a Gun.

Saturday’s event is also a chance to taste goodies straight from the kitchens of some of the area’s most active food bloggers including some of my faves, The Food Librarian, Julie’s Kitchen and H.C.’s Food Venture. (I also plan to be there early to try to get my mitts on some of the green tea Yoda cookies by Just Jenn. Scroll down on the event’s Facebook page and you’ll see just how cute they are!)
All profits from the bake sale will benefit the Philippine Red Cross, which has been serving on the front lines of the devastation. The Nov. 8 storm was one of the most powerful ever recorded, killing at least 3,500 people. More than 1,500 people are still missing, and more than 4 million people have been displaced, officials said.
