For National Vodka Day, try Porn Star drink at Nic’s Beverly Hills

Friday is National Vodka Day, so it’s fitting that you spend the weekend imbibing the clear spirit that many secretly love but outwardly feign disdain for. Part of the joy of vodka is its versatility. It mixes well with just about anything, and that’s not just because juices and syrups disguise its taste. A well-made vodka drink should have that cold snap of grain when it hits your palate. And although flavored vodkas can be cloying, they can also enhance. Take, for example, a cheekily named drink called Porn Star that’s served at Nic’s Beverly Hills. It highlights the best of both worlds by mixing plain vodka with smooth vanilla vodka, passion fruit juice and a touch of tangy lime. A fake mustache garnish completes a near-perfect boozy disguise.

Porn Star

5 minutes. Serves 1

1 ounce vodka, preferably Cariel

1 ounce vanilla vodka, preferably Cariel

2 ounces passion fruit juice

Squeeze of Mexican lime

Fake mustache, for garnish

In a shaker, combine the vodka, vanilla vodka, passion fruit juice and lime juice with ice. Shake and strain into a martini glass and garnish with the fake mustache.
