‘Grandfathered’ to sire more episodes, which means more John Stamos

It would appear that the news for John Stamos isn’t all bad this month, as Fox on Wednesday announced a full season order for his new sitcom, “Grandfathered.”

This is the third of Fox’s fall offerings to get picked up for a full season, joining police procedural “Rosewood” and the Rob Lowe and Fred Savage comedy “The Grinder.” With Ryan Murphy’s “Scream Queens” already set with a 15-episode first season order, that leaves only “Minority Report” waiting for a back season order.

David Madden, Fox Entertainment president, said in a statement about the series: “‘Grandfathered’ had the Herculean task of self-starting on what is an incredibly competitive Tuesday night, and the series has proven itself up to the challenge.”

Madden went on to say: “Since the very beginning, we knew this show would be that rare commodity -- a genuinely original family comedy. The remarkable John Stamos, Josh Peck, Paget Brewster and the entire cast have sparkling chemistry, and the show’s creative team has delivered fantastic scripts that keep these great characters moving. We know fans are going to love the surprises in store for the rest of the season.”

“Grandfathered” features Stamos playing a lifelong bachelor and restaurateur who finds out late in life that he has, not only a son (Josh Peck), but a granddaughter, and focuses on the growing pains involved in adapting to a newfound family. The series also stars Paget Brewster and Christina Milian. The full season pickup means that Season One will entail 22 episodes.
