“Ash vs. Evil Dead” serves as a continuation of Sam Raimi’s “Evil Dead” films, which starred Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams, a monster hunter with a chainsaw hand. Campbell reprises the role in the Starz series, alongside Lucy Lawless. Raimi and Rob Tapert, producers of the original film series, executive produce the show, while newcomer Craig DiGregorio serves as showrunner. All are set to return for Season Two.

According to Carmi Zlotnick, managing director of Starz: “One season isn’t enough to satisfy the fans’ two decade-long appetite for more Ash. The early fan and press support, along with the international broadcaster demand for more story, have made it clear that the adventures of Ash Williams can’t end with Season One.”

Bruce Campbell has portrayed Williams in three separate films, beginning with 1981’s “Evil Dead.” The rest of the trilogy is filled out with 1987’s “Evil Dead II” and 1992’s “Army of Darkness.” More recently, Campbell portrayed Williams in a post-credits sequence cameo for the 2013 remake of “Evil Dead.”

“Ash vs. Evil Dead” makes its series debut 9 p.m. Saturday on Starz.
