‘Conan’ heading to Comic-Con with ‘Hunger Games,’ ‘Thrones,’ ‘Walking Dead’ casts
First Cuba, now Comic-Con: Conan O’Brien will be the first late-night host to broadcast from Comic-Con International during the annual genre convention.
“Conan” will air four episodes from San Diego’s historic Spreckels Theatre and air two rare weekend shows, TBS announced on Monday.
O’Brien’s hefty guest lineup will feature “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2” stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth on July 9, the stars of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and AMC’s “The Walking Dead” on July 10 and a yet-to-be-announced film cast on July 11.
The “never-before-seen Hollywood blockbuster cast” is “so secret” the show wouldn’t even say its name but did drop this hint: “But if there are any telepaths out there, we’re thinking about it extra-hard.”
The host’s stint at Comic-Con will kick off July 8 with “Lord of the Rings” alum Elijah Wood and “The Talking Dead” host Chris Hardwick.
In March, O’Brien was the first American late-night show to broadcast from the island nation since a U.S. embargo was imposed near the height of the Cold War in 1962.
Meanwhile, “Late Night” host Seth Meyers, a “Thrones” super fan, will be moderating the highly anticipated “Game of Thrones” panel in Hall H on Friday. The “SNL” alum will also be featured on a panel at the convention on Saturday for his Hulu animated series “The Awesomes.”
