Watch David Bowie’s creepy video for ‘Love Is Lost’
Want to celebrate Halloween by watching a rock ‘n’ roll superstar wear a witch’s hat? David Bowie’s got you covered.
The glam pioneer goes for the spooky look in a new clip for his song “Love Is Lost,” from this year’s “The Next Day” album. According to a news release, Bowie shot the video last weekend in his New York office, using only a camera he had lying around and “a couple of puppets from his legendary archive.”
Total production cost, his representative says, was the $12.99 he spent on a thumb drive to hold the video.
Like his similarly low-cost clip for “Where Are We Now?,” the “Love Is Lost” video (which features James Murphy’s spacey mix of the tune) doesn’t look like Bowie spent a fortune on it; that witch’s hat, for instance, may well have come from CVS.
But he gets some creative mileage out of the limited means, as when he’s filming himself obsessively washing his hands -- then turns and fixes the camera with those famously icy eyes of his.
