Justin Bieber’s mom Pattie Mallette talks Selena Gomez
Does Justin Bieber’s mom want her son and Selena Gomez to get back together?
In an appearance on the “Today” show Thursday, Pattie Mallette hit the morning talk show to promote her film “Crescendo I” about Beethoven’s mother’s attempted abortion. But the conversation eventually turned to her 18-year-old pop star son and his very public relationship with Disney star Selena Gomez.
“Everybody watches his personal life, we know about this relationship with Selena. I don’t know if moms get a vote, but are you hoping they keep it going?” Savannah Guthrie asked.

“You know, I just try and support whatever he’s wanting and I think she’s a sweetheart, and whatever they decide is great,” Mallette said.
Bieber and Gomez called it quits over the holidays -- seemingly for good -- but rumor has it that the two have been hanging out again recently, though they’re not calling themselves boyfriend and girlfriend.
However, their moms have reportedly been working behind the scenes to get them back together, the Chicago Sun-Times reports, and Gomez’s mother Mandy Cornett is concerned about Bieber’s hard partying and run-ins with the law.
“This is more about getting Justin to clean up his act and his image,” a source told the paper. “Both these kids undoubtedly will date lots of people before they truly settle down.”
In her 2012 book “Nowhere But Up,” Mallette talked of her struggles bringing up her son in the music industry, and once he turned 18, he branched off on his own and has gotten himself into quite a bit of trouble.
“It’s tough letting go and letting our kids make the mistakes that they need to make,” she said on “Today.” “And I just have to trust that he’s made good decisions in the past and hopefully he’s learned from some of my mistakes.”
