Simon Cowell egged — it’s something we’re supposing any number of “American Idol” and “Britain’s Got Talent” wannabes have wanted to see for years now.

And on Saturday night, during the “BGT” finale, it happened.

During a performance by an operatic duo, a woman in a black dress popped up on stage with a carton of eggs and began hurling them toward the judges, Cowell especially, landing a few before security hustled her away. After the performance, Mr. Not-So-Nice-Guy could be seen removing his jacket, which was presumably covered with goo. (See the video above.)

The woman throwing the eggs, 30-year-old Natalie Holt, was a viola player in the orchestra accompanying the act she interrupted, brothers Richard and Adam Johnson, and she reportedly was a contestant last year in a quartet that didn’t make it through auditions, according to Sky News.

“Bloody hell!” Cowell tweeted Saturday. “Just watched the Adam and Richard performance back. They didn’t miss a note.”

Holt apologized in a statement from a “BGT” spokesperson afterward, Sky News said. “I want to apologize to Richard and Adam for overshadowing their performance. I’ve never done anything like this before, and in hindsight I have realized it was a silly thing to do.”

(Well, of course you haven’t done anything like this before, Natalie, or folks would’ve known why you were carrying fresh eggs to a gig, eh?)

However — and this is a big however — she didn’t sound too sorry in an interview later with the Telegraph, in which she explained her motivation.

“I basically took a stand against people miming on television,” Holt said, “and against Simon and his dreadful influence on the music industry.”

Though police were called, according to Sky, no further action will be taken. And Richard and Adam finished third.
