Shakira and Gerard Pique welcome a second baby boy
Shakira has a new little voice in her life: The singer and her boyfriend Gerard Pique have welcomed a second baby son.
Sasha Piqué Mebarak was born just before 10 p.m. local time in Barcelona, the couple announced Friday on her official website.
“The name Sasha is of Greek and Russian descent and means ‘defender of mankind’ and ‘warrior,’” they explained. Oh yeah, Shakira’s last name is Mebarak!
Mama and baby are in excellent health, according to word from the hospital.
Sasha’s big bro, Milan, has a similarly meaningful moniker. When he was born in January 2013, his parents explained the name means “dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification.”
The two-time coach of “The Voice” is Colombian; Pique, who plays soccer for FC Barcelona and Spain’s national team, is Spanish. The couple is based out of Barcelona because of his career, she’s said.
She announced her second pregnancy in late August.
The couple, who started dating in 2010, reportedly met during filming of the music video for “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),” her song for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
