Reid Ewing of ‘Modern Family’ marvels at the attention his sexuality is getting
“Modern Family” actor Reid Ewing had this wry observation Monday: “Writes a cosmetic surgery article, people care more that I’m gay..”
Seems Ewing, who periodically plays goofy boyfriend Dylan on the hit sitcom, “came out” Saturday on Twitter.
Kinda. Not really.

“I was never in,” the 27-year-old said after being asked by someone on Twitter whether he’d just outed himself by enthusiastically commenting on the hotness of a guy in a “Good Morning America” piece about body dysmorphic disorder.
Ewing was, presumably, watching the 2011 “GMA” segment because on Friday he’d opened up in a Huffington Post essay about how his own BDD prompted him to get numerous plastic surgeries starting at age 19. He tweeted that the video was “connected” to his article.
“None of the doctors suggested I consult a psychologist for what was clearly a psychological issue rather than a cosmetic one or warn me about the potential for addiction,” he wrote on HuffPo. He said he wished he could go back and undo all the work he’d had done, because he realizes now he didn’t need any of it.
Ewing was, on Monday, still getting lots of social media feedback about the article. After retweeting a handful of tweets thanking him for sharing his story, he wrote, “Read all your comments. Thank you.”
