Pippa Middleton named Vanity Fair contributing editor

Pippa Middleton is putting her name to paper: The sister of the Duchess of Cambridge is now a contributing editor at Vanity Fair.

The royal’s younger sibling, sister-in-law to Britain’s Prince William, will pen a series of columns for the magazine, including her personal guide for Wimbledon watchers this summer.

“I first went to Wimbledon when I was eight years old and already a very keen tennis player,” the 29-year-old writes in the magazine’s July 2013 issue, her first dispatch as a contributing editor. “During this first trip I acted on my childish tennis dreams and bought myself a postcard of the women’s championship trophy, on which I wrote, ‘I will win this one day,’ with my signature below.”

Middleton rose to fame at the side of her sister, the former Kate Middleton, when the pomp of the royal wedding hit a fever pitch leading up to the April 2011 nuptials. Pippa’s presence as Catherine’s maid of honor launched her onto the global stage.

The newly minted fashion icon admits that she was quite the tomboy growing up, and also an avid fan of tennis, even telling her family that “if I had to get married, it would be in my tennis whites — shorts with no pleats or frills.”

“We’re delighted to have Pippa as a contributor to Vanity Fair,” said the magazine’s editor, Graydon Carter. “She’s a keen observer of classic British pastimes. She is also an avid sportswoman, and we look forward to her take on traditional English pursuits, beginning with Wimbledon.”

The London-based writer and royal auntie-to-be will also have a Q&A with tennis great and reigning Wimbledon champ Roger Federer.

Middleton has also penned a book, “Celebrate: A Year of Festivities for Families and Friends,” about event planning, which is her family’s trade. However, the book was criticized for sharing overly simple tips.

She also writes a food column for Waitrose, a U.K. supermarket chain’s monthly magazine, called “Pippa’s Friday Night Feasts” and reportedly started her own company called PXM Enterprises.
