Pippa Middleton to write new food column for Waitrose
Move over Mark Bittman, there’s a new food writer ready to file. Pippa Middleton, the sister of Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, is picking up her pen and spatula to write a food column for Waitrose, a U.K. supermarket chain’s monthly magazine.
The royal sister was tapped to write a column called Pippa’s Friday Night Feasts in the retailer’s magazine, where she’ll focus on “casual dining ideas and recipes,” according to The Guardian. Middleton’s first column will appear in the April issue, on sale in Waitrose stores March 28.
Does Middleton have any real cooking training or a background in food? Guess it doesn’t really matter when you’re Kate Middleton’s sister! She did, however, come out with her first book last year called “Celebrate: A Year of Festivities for Families and Friends,” with tips on how to host a successful party.
Guy Woodward, editor of Food and Travel magazine, had this to say about the royal culinary mash-up on Twitter: “Pippa Middleton column for Waitrose mag is so off-key for brand priding itself on authenticity – and real kick in the teeth for food writers.”
