Keeping up with Kendall Jenner at the Met Ball; so do Kim, Kanye
Kendall Jenner ascended the Met Gala steps on Monday in the same manner she’s climbing the proverbial ladder of the fashion industry -- in flawless styling and sky-high heels.
The aspiring model wore an age-appropriate light pink trumpet gown from Topshop and accessorized with jewels from Chopard and Tabitha Simmons heels for the annual Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala. Or shall we call it #kendallsmetball, which she was wont to do on social media?
It was Jenner’s first time at the annual gala for its accompanying exhibition, which honored midcentury designer Charles James this year and called for a formal dress code with decorations.
The 18-year-old “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star joined half-sister Kim Kardashian and her rapper-fiancé Kanye West for the well-heeled gathering, which featured numerous designers and various Hollywood stars and couples.
Jenner posted a sneak peek of her ensemble prior to the event, a snapshot with her younger sis Kylie Jenner, who helped her get ready and a silly selfie taken while lying down in the car joking that she “can’t sit.”
“Corset dress = no sitting in the car - @kendalljenner #kendallsmetball,” she wrote on Love magazine’s Instagram account, which she took over for the evening.
At the event, she posed for a snapshot with fellow models and Topshop enthusisasts Jourdan Dunn, Chanel Iman and Toni Garrn both at the red carpet and inside the event. The models also wore the British label for the formal affair.
“Perfect ending to a beautiful night!” Jenner wrote, posting a portrait with Kardashian on the Love account.
Kardashian, an avid social media user, gushed about her younger sister in a sweet Instagram post using the same photo.
“Best thing in life is sharing memories with the ones you love!” she wrote. “From getting ready together to experiencing the night I’m happy you were at my side @kendalljenner I love you my model baby!!!”
After the ball, Jenner went downtown for singer Rihanna’s official afterparty at Up & Down in the West Village. There she posed with the “Diamonds” songstress and later changed into a more casual ensemble.
The young starlet was featured in an online Vogue campaign following New York fashion week in February, just before Kardashian and West landed the coveted cover in April.
Jenner, whose parents are Kardashian momager Kris Jenner and Olympian Bruce Jenner, also raised untrained eyebrows in February when she strutted down the Marc Jacobs catwalk revealing her nipples in a sheer blouse during the fall 2014 presentation.
Singer Selena Gomez, 23, who was spotted with Jenner at Coachella last month, also attended the annual event for the first time.
Sister Kim, who matched her fiancé in Lanvin by Alber Elbaz looks, reunited with fashion folks and was sure to name drop when she could. A few of the heavyweights featured on her Instagram feed include Vogue editor Anna Wintour, West’s pal Riccardo Tisci, who styled her infamous floral Givenchy gown for the ball last year, designers Donatella Versace, Domenico Dolce of Dolce & Gabbana, Zac Posen and Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing, makeup artist Pat McGrath, Vogue Italia editor Franca Sozzani, Valentino’s Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, models Naomi Campbell, Cara Delevingne and actresses Kate Bosworth and Rose Huntington-Whitely.
The 33-year-old even posted a snap of her fiancé with his “Watch the Throne” collobarator Jay Z, who attended the event with his wife, Beyoncé.
Sorry, Kim, it’s Kendall’s time to shine.
