Jimmy Kimmel one-ups John Krasinski’s holiday prank with a yard sale and egg nog
John Krasinski may have thought he robbed late-night host and neighbor Jimmy Kimmel of his comeuppance in their annual prank war, but “The Office” star was woefully mistaken.
Krasinski, who appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Tuesday to plug his new drama, “13 Hours,” recounted their four-year tradition and this year’s holiday shenanigans, which included sending Kimmel a naughty Santa-gram at work, putting a real reindeer in his office bathroom and turning the entire “JKL!” office into a winter wonderland, complete with fake snow, animals, presents and a surprise Nutcracker (Krasinski) to spook the TV host.

“Still fake snow in my office,” Kimmel said. “Well done. You went to great lengths, but I do have a little something for you.”
Kimmel, 48, pointed his pal’s attention to a video screen showing him making a yard-sale sign with Krasinski’s face on it, as well as what appeared to be his real home address and a 6 a.m. Wednesday start time.
“We put that on the good ol’ Xerox machine and printed out a couple of hundred of this yard-sale sign,” Kimmel said. “That is your real address. And we posted them all over town today. So those are out there now, and there are quite a few of them.”
The host and his crew proceeded to post the flashy signs all over popular L.A. landmarks, including Pink’s Hot Dogs, Canter’s deli, the La Brea Tar Pits, the UCLA campus and several other places.
“You know when you forget to laugh because all you’re thinking about is this is going to be so awful,” Krasinski said, appearing a bit shaken.
Kimmel didn’t stop there, however, revealing one more surprise for the actor. Hint: It involved egg nog.
The prank war started when Krasinski and his wife, actress Emily Blunt, broke into Kimmel’s house and put up holiday lawn ornaments in his living room. Kimmel responded by installing an insurance sign on their front lawn. After that, the couple planted a zombie in Kimmel’s garden, and then Kimmel erected a 26-foot tall inflatable reindeer that included “non-inflatable reindeer poop” on their driveway.
Last year, Kimmel tried to end the war once and for all and gift-wrapped their house, including all their doors and windows. But Krasinski and Blunt didn’t stand for that and had Kimmel’s car gift-wrapped at work, only for him to discover that the whole car was filled with ornaments.
The next night the car was wrapped again, but instead of being filled with baubles it was filled with carolers, because Kimmel’s nightmare is “people singing at you,” Blunt said. On the third night of prank-mas, the couple wrapped Kimmel’s car again and raided his house to fill it with his stuff “to give away to the kids of America.”
“Well, Merry Christmas to you. May God help you next year,” Kimmel warned.
