George Lopez humble as he jokes after drunken arrest in Canada
George Lopez is usually a stand-up comic, but Thursday night in Canada he appeared to be more of a passed-out-on-the-floor comic — and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of public intoxication, according to reports out Friday.
“Tied one on last night,” the comedian said Friday in a statement obtained by Show Tracker. “Not feeling great this morning. I was trying to sleep it off, unfortunately, it was on the casino floor.”
No charges were filed against the comic, according to TMZ, which said Lopez was put in a drunk tank to sober up and later was released.
Before his arrest, the 52-year-old performer was photographed seemingly passed out on the floor of Caesars Windsor, where he had just performed and is scheduled to perform Friday night. The photo was posted on Twitter with the caption, “George Lopez passed out at the casino last night!”
Casino security was alerted to the situation when Lopez was seen on the floor, and security got law enforcement involved around 11 p.m., Gossip Cop reported.
Lopez will be back on TV on March 6 with the premiere of the comedy “Saint George” on FX. It’s his first starring role in a sitcom since the show “George Lopez” wrapped its six-season run in 2007. He hosted his own TBS talk show, “Lopez Tonight,” which ran three seasons from 2009 to 2011.
He’s scheduled to perform two nights at L.A.’s Hollywood Bowl in June.
