David Arquette gets honest with Howard Stern: He’s drinking again
David Arquette said it would be like this — lots of people talking about him after he was only being honest with Howard Stern about falling off the wagon.
Arquette, who came out of rehab in January 2011, admitted to Stern during a Monday call-in that these days he’s once again “a drinker, so yes, I drink a lot.” No delicate one or two adult bevs for this Hollywood player.
And yeah, he smokes a little weed too, but he didn’t want to get into all that on the show “because the problem is that people are going to take this and start talking about it.”
(Sorry, David, but you’re right. Remember, you were the guy who tweeted, on your one-year anniversary of sobriety, “I thank God for the strength and guidance and my family and friends for their love and support & I [thank you].” You were the one who was all jazzed about your sobriety on “Dancing With the Stars.” We all talked about that stuff too.)
“My problem with being honest with you and talking to you is that people are going to take all this and just be cruel with it,” the 41-year-old “Scream” actor said to Stern. He’d prefer people play what he called “the kindness game,” in which “kindness is the new currency, love is the new currency.”
Falling off the wagon was something he simply had to do, it seems, for himself.
“I’ve been sober for two years and four months,” he said, “and feeling like I wasn’t being that true to myself, like what I enjoy.”
Rumor, as reported by Radar Online, has it that he started tippling again back in June.
Alas, Arquette wouldn’t tell Howard his drink of choice.
Now that’s cruel.
