Director Adam Shankman enters rehab, on ‘journey to recovery’
Adam Shankman, director of the musical film adaptations of “Hairspray” and “Rock of Ages,” has entered rehab, according to his rep.
“Adam Shankman is currently seeking treatment in a rehabilitation center,” his rep said in a statement to Us Weekly and People. “His friends and family support him and wish him well on his journey to recovery.”
It is unclear for what the “So You Think You Can Dance” judge was seeking treatment.

Shankman, 49, who has also worked on “Glee,” has dabbled in acting, production, dancing, choreography and directing during his more than two-decade career.
He most recently served as executive producer and director for Sunday night’s TrevorLive event at the Hollywood Palladium, E! News reported. The event benefited the suicide-prevention nonprofit for LGBT youth, the Trevor Project.
“Last night. :)” Shankman captioned a photo of himself late Monday posing with “Glee” stars Darren Criss and Jane Lynch and “American Idol” alum Adam Lambert.
TMZ noted that Shankman was close with “Glee” star Cory Monteith, who died in July after a struggle with substance abuse, and “Hairspray” star Zac Efron, who reportedly went to rehab twice earlier this year.
