Olympic great Stein Eriksen asking $2.45 million for Montana log cabin

Stein Eriksen, the Norwegian alpine skier who captured gold at the 1952 Winter Olympics, has listed his rustic retreat in Montana for $2.45 million.

Found within Sundance Bench, a gated community 40 miles south of Ennis, the estate known as Trollhaugen has a Norwegian-style log cabin, a log guest cottage, a gazebo and tennis and shuffleboard courts on 40 acres.

Decorated in bright hues and whimsical carvings, the main cabin includes formal living and dining rooms, a game room, a kitchen with a breakfast bar and a reading nook. Five bedrooms and five bathrooms are within the 4,800 square feet of living space.

Outdoors, a wide porch with a hot tub centers on picturesque views of rolling hills, open meadows and the peaks of two nearby mountain ranges. A log gazebo with a massive stone fireplace completes the scenic setting.

Eriksen, 87, medaled twice at the 1952 Winter Games in Oslo, Norway, winning gold on the giant slalom and silver on the slalom event, and won three gold medals at the 1954 World Championships. He was inducted into the National Ski Hall of Fame in 1982.
