‘X-Men’ cinematographer sells longtime Malibu home for $6.4 million

Cinematographer Newton Thomas Sigel, whose long list of films includes “The Usual Suspects” and the “X-Men” franchise, has sold his Malibu home of more than a decade for $6.4 million.

With nearly 50 feet of frontage on Las Flores Beach and multiple balconies to take advantage of the views, the sleek oceanfront home seems like a natural companion for a cinematographer.

The main level, entered through a private foyer, holds a step-down great room, dining area, gourmet kitchen and office with a built-in desk and daybed. Floor-to-ceiling windows line the common areas, bringing unobstructed ocean views inside.

Each of the four bedrooms on the upper level feature white oak floors. In the master suite, sliding glass doors open to a private balcony.

The garage parks two and also includes an electric car charging station. In all, the house offers 3,364 square feet of living space.

The home was on the market in March for $6.99 million before a price cut brought it down to $6.75 million, records show.

Christopher Cortazzo of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage was the listing agent. Gail Lowe, also of Coldwell Banker, represented the buyer.

Sigel, who’s been in the film industry since the ’70s, has worked with directors such as Oliver Stone, Errol Morris and Bryan Singer during his career. His range of credits include “Superman Returns,” (2006), “Valkyrie” (2008) and “Drive” (2011).
