John Gilbert Getty of the J. Paul Getty oil family has sold his home in Hollywood Hills West for $1.575 million.

Hidden from the street, behind tall palms and hedges, the single-story house has an laidback vibe with wide glass doors opening to various canopy-topped decks and patios. Lush tropical landscaping, a trellis-topped dining area and large stacked-stone fountain further the relaxed ambiance.

Inside, details of note include arched doorways, beamed ceilings and rustic wrought iron chandeliers. Walls of floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and built-ins highlight the media room/den.

A living room with a fireplace, an updated kitchen, a breakfast area, two bedrooms and two bathrooms complete the floor plan. The master suite features a sitting area and a glass door that opens to the grounds.

The house was most recently listed for $1.65 million. Formerly owned by television producer and casting director Dennis Hammer, the property last changed hands two years ago for $1.925 million.

Corey Weiss of John Aaroe Group was the listing agent. Gia Casty and Sharona Alperin of Sotheby’s International Realty represented the buyers.

John Getty is the grandson of oil scion J. Paul Getty and one of four sons of Gordon P. Getty.

He made Hot Property headlines two years ago when he sold the Castle, a Los Feliz home designed by A.F. Leicht, for $8.3 million, one of the highest transactions ever for the historic Los Angeles community.
