Jerry Weintraub’s futuristic estate in Palm Desert gets a $4-million price cut

After finding no takers earlier this year at $16 million, the Palm Desert home owned by late Hollywood producer Jerry Weintraub is now being offered at about a $4-million discount: $11.995 million.

Sitting on an elevated site within Bighorn, an affluent golf course community, the Contemporary-style home is visually dramatic with a panther-slate-lined exterior, protruding rooflines and walls of glass. Two swimming pools circle the perimeter of the Guy Dreier-designed home.

Inside, the 9,152 square feet of living space features such amenities as a media room, an office and a great room with a see-through fireplace. A custom pub evokes the bar at Claridge’s, an iconic Art Deco-style hotel in London.

There are six bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms including an over-the-top master suite with sliding walls of glass that bring a section of the outdoor swimming pool inside.

Weintraub, who died last year at 77, promoted and managed such stars as John Denver, Frank Sinatra and Bob Dylan. As a producer, his credits include the blockbuster “Karate Kid” and “Ocean’s Eleven” film franchises.

His final film, “The Legend of Tarzan,” was released this summer.

The producer’s Beverly Hills home, a tennis court estate on about an acre, is now listed for $22.495 million, down from $25 million earlier this year.
