Former SEGA President Hayao Nakayama passes the controller for Century City condo
Hayao Nakayama, who helmed video game developer SEGA Enterprises through the ’80s and ’90s, has unplugged from his condominium in Century City. The luxury unit sold for $5.7 million, records show.
Found within the Century building, the 42-story high-rise designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects, the condo is reached by a privately keyed elevator. Doors open to an elegant foyer lined with hardwood floors.
The 4,660-square-foot floor plan includes an expansive living room, dining area, chef’s kitchen, four bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer cityscape views, and a pair of balconies extend the living space outdoors.
The Century’s community amenities include four acres of gardens, a yoga studio, screening room and 75-foot pool.
Though the sale came out lower than Nakayama’s original price tag, he still came out on top. Records show he bought the condo in 2011 for $5.3 million.
Stephen Shapiro of Westside Estate Agency was the listing agent, according to the Multiple Listing Service.
Nakayama, 85, served as SEGA’s President and CEO from 1983 to 1999, overseeing the production of the Sega Genesis, which sold more than 30 million units worldwide.
