BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJORS : Kamieniecki Eligible, Not Ready to Return
Yankee starter Scott Kamieniecki was eligible to come off the disabled list Sunday, but is not expected to be recovered from his sprained right elbow for at least two more weeks. . . . Cincinnati Reds reliever Mike Jackson, recovering from shoulder soreness, made his first start for Double-A Chattanooga as part of a medical rehab assignment and pitched a perfect inning. . . . The Mets’ Bobby Bonilla played left field Sunday for the first time since July 31, 1987 at San Francisco when he was playing for Pittsburgh and replaced Barry Bonds. . . . The San Francisco Giants purchased the contract of left-handed pitcher Shawn Barton from triple-A Phoenix to fill the spot of Steve Frey, who was traded to Seattle on Saturday. Barton was the Giants’ third pitcher Sunday.
