On the morning of October 31, 2014 the Virgin Galactic's SpaceShipTwo (SS2), a suborbital rocket carrying two pilots, broke apart in the air just seconds after launching from an aircraft carrier. The SS2 was performing a test flight at the time. The rocket debris scattered over of a 33 mile stretch, including landing near a school in Ridgecrest, California.
