New York: Explore the Hudson Valley by bike
Cycling through New York’s Hudson Valley in October means more than a good workout and close-ups of fall colors. Great Freedom Adventures of Massachusetts offers a bicycle tour that combines cultural stops -- the Vanderbilt Mansion, Olana and Eleanor Roosevelt’s Val-Kill home -- with visits to wineries and historic villages. The tour packs a lot into the six-day exploration of the iconic river area.
Dates: The bicycle tour takes place Oct. 2-7.
Price: The Hudson Valley Fall Foliage Bike Tour costs $2,350 a person, based on double occupancy; add $425 for single supplement. The price includes six days of bicycling (described as easy to moderate, 15 to 55 miles a day), bicyle and helmet rental, lodging, daily breakfast, four dinners, a river cruise, guides, wine tastings and tour, admission to several estates and more. Airfare is not included.
