Fontainebleau Miami Beach plans 100-day tribute for Sinatra’s 100th birthday
The glamorous Fontainebleau Miami Beach will pay tribute to one of its most famous guests and performers: Frank Sinatra. It plans a "100-day countdown" to the singer's 100th birthday on Dec. 12.
Starting Sept. 2, the hotel will lead a nightly birthday toast to Sinatra at the Bleau Bar with -- what else? -- Jack Daniel's Sinatra Select whiskey. The hotel also will debut a photography show with personal and historic images in part curated by the Sinatra family.
In the past, Sinatra vacationed at the hotel, performed in its former La Ronde nightclub and filmed some of his movies -- "A Hole in the Head" (1959), "The Lady in Cement" (1968) and "Tony Rome" (1967) -- there too.
The hotel hopes to evoke a glamorous Golden Era vibe that takes folks back to the days when Sinatra visited.
As part of the countdown, guests will be invited to sample some of Sinatra's favorite meals at hotel restaurants, and experience a "Live Like Frank" stay for $1,915 (the year of his birth).
The package includes a junior suite or higher room and a bottle of the Jack Daniel's special whiskey, two 50-minute massages at the Lapis Spa, a $250 credit for dinner in any of the hotel's four restaurants, daily breakfast and the "Ultimate Sinatra" CD.
And on the last day? The hotel says there will be a performance honoring Sinatra, with details to be announced later.
