Easter celebrations and Mayan ruins on this Guatemala tour
Easter week in one Guatemala town is an elaborate affair in which all residents come to celebrate. Now you can be part of the procession in Antigua in the country’s central highlands, where floats and flower carpets mark the Santa Semana or Holy Week festivities.
The Easter Processional Tour highlights not only Christian celebrations in Antigua but takes visitors on a tour through the Land of the Mayas.
The itinerary includes the ancient temples of Tikal National Park; Monkey Island, which lives up to its name and where you can feed the local critters fruit; a coffee plantation tour and zip-lining in Ixpanpajul Park.
The tour is led by archaeologist Antonio Gonzalez and naturalist and environmentalist Emilio Faillace. Participants stay in style in the town deemed a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with other locations.
When: The tour runs from March 23 to April 2.
Price: $4,995 per person, including three flights, accommodations, daily meals, transportation, tours, entrance fees, bilingual tour guides and taxes and tips. It includes international airfare to and from Guatemala too.
